"Ten thousand flowers in spring, the moon in autumn, a cool breeze in summer, snow in winter. If your mind isn’t clouded by unnecessary things, this is the best season of your life." -Wu-men

Although most of us don’t like to think of growing older, the Bible tells us we should remember to” number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom” (Psalm 90:12).  Where I live in Michigan, each season comes with intensity, and autumn has always been a favorite because the trees explode with color.

As I look at my life, I recognize the innocence of my childhood spring has past, and my summer years of raising a family are ending.  As autumn approaches I think I too could explode with color and blow with the winds of inspiration.  There is a thrill to the freedom, and yes, I need to appreciate every golden day because winter will bring its challenges. As I paint, I imagine I am on my fall color tour.
