Faces

Painting is like building a fire to warm the house. I like to surprise people by using overlooked materials like dryer lint, misspelled notes, curious monsters, shreds of foil, and magazine clippings.

Although my pieces may look simple, I layer them for months until I find just the right color and design to reflect an interesting personality.
Faces are a favorite subject because I love to discover new things about people that are often revealed in subtle nuances of an eyebrow or smile.
Although my faces are not portraits, I feel like they are old friends by the time I am done.
I have been painting for over 20 years, and I hope to finish 100 faces some day.
